Everyone talks about recovery but what really is it?
Is it going for a walk, stretching, not doing anything?
I’m sure we’ve all heard of stretching and ice baths but these are my 3 favourite recovery go tos:
Walking: The day after my long runs or even during an intense training week I like to make sure I keep my body moving, even when I’m feeling sore. This definitely helps freshen up my legs.
Sauna: I try to visit the sauna whenever I have access to one, my gym has one so I try to go at least once a week. Tougher weeks I’ll try squeeze in 2-3 times.
Massage: A deep tissue sports massage is great for blood flow and muscle tightness, if I’m not getting a professional massage, I’ll use a foam roller. This can be painful but definitely speeds up recovery.
p.s my little foam roller hack is to keep it under my sofa and whip it out during a Netflix binge.
